The Cliffs of Moher are quite impressive! They rise 702 feet at their highest point above the sea and stretch for 5 miles along the coast. On a clear day, one can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay and all the way to the Dingle Penninsula to the south.
It was really windy on Monday, but coming from behind, the wind helped push us up to the top.
You can walk along the cliff tops all along the 5 mile stretch. If you look closely at the first cliff to the left of my head, you can just barely pick out a pathway right next to the edge. It's too small to see, but there are no handrails and the path is just feet off the edge. One good gust of wind could send a brave, but foolhardy soul, right off the edge to plummet into the sea!
Apparently, this is a favorite spot for surfing. During the summer months, of course.
Yes, we were actually there! Some nice Chinese tourists took our picture. The Cliffs get over a million visitors a year. During the tourist season they can get 6000 visitors a day!
These black birds are EVERYWHERE in Ireland! I think they are ravens. This one was particularly brave and let people come within inches of him before he flew off.
There is a old lookout way down on that far point.
Ahhhh. the beauty of God's magnificent creations!!
HASTE YE BACK!
